WBDC ADAPTIVE DANCE PROGRAM

Registration is now open for our 4 week Summer Session of these amazing classes!

What is this program?

This is an adaptive dance class environment to give an opportunity for children and young adults with special needs an opportunity to enjoy a class just for them!

At weekly classes, dancers will learn all types of dance in a fun, encouraging atmosphere. WBDC’s goal is for all dancers to gain confidence, coordination, strength and sense of belonging through this program. We also focus on socialization not only with their peers and teachers, but with their Adaptive Dance Friends.

Each dancer is paired with an Adaptive Dance Friend. The volunteer dancer helps their friend by modeling the dance steps, assisting dancers in following class directions and providing companionship/friendship/support. We love watching the relationships form and grow between dancers and their friends. It is a very rewarding experience for everyone involved.

Cost To Families?

Families/students who participate in WBDC’s Adaptive Dance Progarm, do so for FREE. Through sponsorships and fundraisers will be able to offer these dancers the opportunity to participate in dance.

Who is eligible to be a dancer to participate in WBDC’s Adaptive Dance Program?

Any child, ages 5 and up, must have a disability as identified in an IEP or physician diagnosis, that prevents them from comfortably participating in a non-adaptive WBDC class.

Volunteer Adaptive Dance Friends

Our volunteers learn important lessons in responsibility and friendship by providing one-on-one assistance to a special needs dancer. Sharing the love for dance with another dancer will be as rewarding for the volunteer as it is the dancer.

We are looking for positive, patient, kind and out-going dancers, ages 12 and up, that are looking to volunteer their time. Please click HERE to fill out an application to be a WBDC Adaptive Dance Friend! We are currently accepting applications for the 2025-26 season.
